The Red Coat (2019)

2019. 11 minutes. Digital, 1.78:1. English, Canada

THE RED COAT tells the story of an encounter between two teenagers – John and Mary. It’s late – they were both at the same party – they know each other – sort of – and they meet up on the sidewalk later. John basically blurts out that he has been in love with Mary for a long time. They talk. They kiss a bit. And that’s pretty much it. A sweet and sentimental short adaption of the one act play of the same name by John Patrick Shanley (from his collection “Welcome to the Moon”). The short proves that the powerful things that bring us together can be the smallest of memories – such as that of what one wore once long ago that we can recall.
