Set in a small apartment above a vet clinic in Vancouver’s Mount Pleasant area, a group of broke young artists gather for a pregame before a Death Cab for Cutie concert, only to find their relationships fracturing under a weight of hidden truths. At the center are Lauren and Cameron, a couple suffocating under financial strain, unspoken resentments, and a sudden, shattering family tragedy they are desperate to hide. Intimate, devastating, and darkly funny, Above the Hospital explores the explosive friction facing a generation suspended between creative ambition and economic survival, grieving the futures they expected to have in a city where people can drop one another in the blink of an eye.
